I don’t know if anyone has ever done a survey on the most and least popular months, but if they did, February would be somewhere near the bottom. Of course Valentine’s Day is on February 14th. And Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Day, usually falls in February – a popular feast day in Europe. Candlemas Day is February 2nd, celebrated as Groundhog Day in North America. Other than that, unless your birthday happens to fall in February, there is not a lot to be said for it. Even the burst of warm weather that often occurs towards the end of February serves only to tempt out the early buds to be nipped by March frosts.
'Late February, and the air’s so balmy snowdrops and crocuses might be fooled into early blooming. Then, the inevitable blizzard will come, blighting our harbingers of spring, and the numbed yards will go back undercover.” (Gail Mazur)
